My Favorite Hack for Storing Scarves

Sharing my favorite scarf organizing hack here!

My friend Ann runs a color analysis business locally here in Howard County (check out her services here!) Ann recently asked me for scarf organizing tips. She has a large collection herself and often recommends scarves to clients since it’s an easy way to add color to an outfit.

Small accessories can easily get lost in a closet (honestly, anything can get lost in a closet without intentional systems and maintenance…) With scarves, you want to see your options and grab them easily without shuffling other things around.

There are LOTS of scarf organizer products on the market, but I don't love most of them. A lot involve threading the scarves through holes or hanging them over bars.

I worry about scarves slipping (especially little neckerchief type ones!) I also don't love how the top row of scarves covers the ones underneath. Plus pulling out one scarf runs the risk of pulling others.

So what do I recommend instead?

A clear pocket-style hanging shoe organizer is my favorite hack for storing scarves. Look for one that hangs like a hangar, has pockets on both sides, and rotates for ease. I have this exact one from Amazon (pictured below.)

What I like about using this pocket organizer it that each scarf gets its own cubby and can be removed easily without disturbing the other scarves.

The rotating hangar makes it easy to finagle even in a cramped closet. And the whole can be snuggled up to your hanging clothes to save space!

If you have thick, large scarves you could look for a pocket organizer with larger pockets or mixed sizes to accommodate your capes and shawls.

Happy organizing!
